Day 244 - Turquoise Bracelet

Sunday, September 11, 2011

I'm so excited to show you the bracelet pattern I tried out today!  I was reading Kristen's blog, My Bead Journey and she was doing a review on a pattern designed by Ellad2.  It was so cute that I decided to take a look at Ellad2's Etsy shop just for giggles.  You all should know by now that I am into the free patterns since I am doing to many for my project, but I thought what the heck and took a look.

The patterns at Ellad2's shop are amazing!  Not only are they stylish, trendy and just plain beautiful, they are some of the most reasonably priced patterns that I have found to date.  I had to have one, and then I had to have two, and well you get the picture.  I have only purchased patterns from one other person on the Internet (who's pattern I will be telling you about in the very near future).  In order for me to justify the purchase, I have to really think about the versatility of the pattern and what could I do with it in the future???

The pattern I purchased and chose to make today is from Ellad2 www.ellad2.com and www.ellad2.etsy.com) and it is called Turquoise Bracelet.  Please note that I purchased the pattern from the site and am under no obligation to extol it's virtues.  But I really love, it so I wanted to tell you all.

The first thing you might notice is that mine is not turquoise and silver as is the sample on the pattern.  But that is what I mean about the versatility.  The turquoise and silver lent a very casual air to the sample, but when I changed up the beads for pearls and matte metallic, it took on a whole new look!  The materials are simple, 4mm rounds, 8/0s and 15/0s.  That's it.  The base is constructed in RAW with the 8/0 beads and the pearls so it works up really quickly, a great project for beginners because you get some immediate gratification!  The piece is further embellished with 15/0 beads.  Slap on a clasp and that's it!  This bracelet was made according to the tutorial with five pearls across, but the width can be changed easily by adding or subtracting a row or more.  The pattern was very clear, with step by step written and step by step photographic instructions.

I really love this!  And look Ma, I made the whole bracelet!

Turquoise Bracelet, conquered!

  6. That is a very nice pattern, indeed! I suggest you look into Deborah Roberti's patterns at aroundthebeadingtable.com. Her patterns (mostly beadweaving) are gorgeous and the most reasonably priced I've seen anywhere. I've been purchasing them for year and I'm never disappointed in my creations.
